About

What this is

Urban Forest Point is a small editorial index of hotels. It covers four categories and nothing else: art hotels, capsule hotels, casino hotels and ice hotels.

The list is short on purpose. Every entry is a working hotel, described in a few paragraphs of prose, so a reader can see quickly whether it fits the trip they have in mind.

Why these four

They are categories where the building itself changes the stay. A painted room, a sleeping pod, a resort with a theatre and a gaming floor, a suite made of river ice. Each one asks something different of a guest.

How entries are chosen

A hotel is included because it shows its category clearly. We check that it trades under the name we use and that the details we mention are general and true to its character.

Hotels cannot pay to appear. We do not take commissions, and we do not run a booking engine. If a detail is out of date, we would like to hear about it.

Who runs it

The index is written and maintained by a small independent editorial team. It is not connected to any of the hotels listed.
